This black tea has won many awards in Australia for many years. It is a blending of spring and summer leaves of some Japanese cultivars, mainly Yabukita and Sayamakaori, grown on a plantation in the beautiful Conondale Ranges in South-East Queensland, Australia. The region has a warm and humid subtropical climate with fertile and slightly acidic soil, idea for the Japanese tea cultivars. The tea blended by tea master Brendon Collins is one of the most balanced black tea in terms of flavors, aroma and mouthfeel.
Aroma of dry leaves: honey sweetness, rosy floweriness, fruity like dried tropical fruits, malty and slightly nutty.
Aroma of wet leaves: honey, woody, spice and tobacco
Mouthfeel: silky, medium thin
Tastes: like the aroma of dry leaves, the tastes remind one of honey, cinnamon, rosebuds tea, dried tropical fruits especially the Chinese Longgan, and slightly creamy. It is like the most balanced mixture of unsmoked Lapsang Souchong and Japanese Koucha. It has zero bittnerness and and no traceable astringency. It can be brewed in Gongfucha Style for 30s, 40s, 1 minute, as one wishes. We joked between ourselves that, this tea can be forgotten about and can be "tortured", but it will just not torture you back; it is that nice, peaceful and harmonious. But one must also note that, because it is so balanced, nothing stands out substantially. There is no crazy floweriness or crazy fruitiness; all the flavour notes, floweriness, fruitiness, sweetness, woodiness and maltiness are just blended in and in perfect harmony with each other.
