Bairui Xiang Wuyi Yancha (Rock Tea)
Aroma of Bairui Xiang: smoky like a smoky Toufu, roasty like roasted beef and burned rice, milky like a soya milk. If you smell the lid of the warm Gaiwan, you will also get a whiff of floweriness and honey that is usually in a Jin Jun Mei especially Meizhan Jin Jun Mei.
First sip: like a stone heated under the sun, smoky, mineral, tobacco
After swallowing: like red fruits, can be the skin of cherries, can be dried Longgan, very sweet and moisturizing under the tongue, a little dry on top of the tongue, hints of peach coming through.
This Bairui Xiang rock tea is definitely for more experienced rock tea drinkers. My friend Rika, who is new to rock teas, found this tea incomprehensible like a good whisky, mysterious but not her cup of tea yet. As a new rock tea drinker, she prefers Rougui or White Orchid because these two are sweeter and fruitier with more highlights.
